Pregnant nervous flyer over here

I've never been much of a fan of flying I'm not going to lie and the idea of flying with a baby bump made me all kinds of anxious! But after having to cancel our Honeymoon in May to make way for my surgery, we were both very much in need of a holiday.

After my failed attempts to sway Tom with a baby-moon in Britain, somewhere on the Cornish coast perhaps, (he wasn't having any of it) the decision was finally made that we would jet off for some summer sun.

We chose Port de Pollença in Majorca mainly because the flight was a mere 2 hours and I was bribed heavily with the promise of a spending spree on our way through duty-free as well as a new maternity friendly summer wardrobe.

Desperate to get away but also very aware that I was a tripple flight risk when it came to DVT (pregnant: check, recent surgery: check, cancer diagnosis: check!) made me all kinds of nervous. So it was hello sexy flight socks for me, but don't get me wrong I would have gladly worn multiple pairs if I could have physically got them on!

We booked the very last row on the plane, possibly because I read once that these might be the safest seats in the house and also a little bit because they were right by the loos, which I have been warned I might need A LOT, also there was a little bit of space for me to have a wander around mid-flight.

Our flight went amazingly smoothly and we even coped well with our 3am alarm! All in all it was just under 2 hours and I even enjoyed the window seat for the first time in a long time. Although there was no room for wandering, or using the loos for that matter as we were completely surrounded by a 30 strong hen do and two groups of guys headed on their first lads holiday to magaluf! The aisle was a constant stream of guys and girls with bladders full of booze before 8am! As a pregnant lady with flight socks under her leggings, no make-up (because 3am!) and a bag full of vitamins all the appropriate in-flight snacks and a bunch of trashy magazines, ready for a weekend of relaxation I felt a little out of place.

Even baby boy, who’d been totally chill during take off (unlike his mum who’d been holding too tightly onto Tom with a very sweaty hand!) started to kick up a bit of a fuss when the noise levels and shreaks for vodka got a little bit loud. I’m fully aware I acted like a total dick when I smiled smugly to myself at the fact they weren’t allowed to purchase their 2 for £10 750ml spirits.

Aside from all that the journey was a breeze and we were all sorted in our hotel room and ready to start exploring by 1pm! We headed out to the pine walk at Port de Pollença and flexed the pregnancy rules a little with some seafood paella.

It hit me almost as soon as we arrived, just how much I needed this holiday. I don’t think I’ve let myself properly relax for a long time now and the relief hit me hard. I feel more like my old self these last two days than I have probably since January and it feels amazing :) I’m so ready to make the most of this sunshine, swan arround in my new holiday clothes and get lots of vitamin sea for the next few lovely days :).
